2019年9月8日，於警方進行清場期間，有警員多次辱罵及以警棍指向「守護孩子」成員，更稱呼長者們為「曱甴」。 有在場記者多番勸喻警方，指「守護孩子」成員皆為長者，請大家互相尊重、不要欺負及指罵伯伯。惟警察一方並沒有聽從，反指「係鍾意篤呀點呀」及稱「冇話伯唔伯」。

1分29秒防暴警於未有警示下從警車上未依足程序發射催淚彈，涉嫌違反《公安條例》第17條中，表明警務人員在阻止公眾聚集舉行，或停止或解散公眾聚集時，只可以使用「合理所需的武力」。而過份武力對待被拘捕人士，在沒有合理辨解下，亦可能違反《侵害人身罪條例》各條。
